Firework Safety 101: What Every Buyer Should Know

🎇 Firework Safety 101: What Every Buyer Should Know
Celebrate Smarter with Tips from Elevated Fireworks™
Fireworks are fun, exciting, and unforgettable—but only when used safely. At Elevated Fireworks™, your safety is our top priority. Whether you’re lighting a single sparkler or setting up a full backyard display, knowing the basics of firework safety can make all the difference between a night to remember and one to regret.
Here’s everything you need to know before you light the fuse.
🔥 1. Read All Labels and Instructions
It may seem obvious, but reading the label can prevent serious mistakes.
Make sure you know what the firework is supposed to do, how to set it up, and how far back spectators should stand.
📦 Pro Tip: Always open fireworks outdoors and away from flames.
🚫 2. Never Relight a Dud
If a firework fails to ignite, do not attempt to relight it. Wait at least 15–20 minutes, then soak it in a bucket of water to safely dispose of it.
⚠️ Trying again can result in surprise ignition or injury.
🧯 3. Keep Water Nearby
Always have a hose, fire extinguisher, or bucket of water on hand. If something goes wrong, you’ll be glad you were ready.
💦 Also great for cleanup when the show’s over.
🧨 4. Light One Firework at a Time
This helps you stay in control and gives you time to step back safely. Never light fireworks while holding them in your hand or while standing over them.
🚷 Use a long-reach lighter or punk for added distance.
👀 5. Never Let Children Handle Fireworks
Even sparklers can burn at over 1,200°F—hotter than a blowtorch. Children should always be supervised by a responsible adult.
🐶 Keep pets indoors too—they’re easily frightened by loud noises.
🛑 6. Use a Flat, Hard Surface
Always place fireworks on a solid, level surface like concrete or wood. Avoid grass, sand, or unstable ground that could cause tipping or misfires.
🧱 You can also secure larger fireworks with bricks or boards for extra stability.
📦 7. Store Fireworks Safely
Keep unused fireworks in a cool, dry place, away from heat and open flames. Never store them in your car on a hot day.
🔒 Always keep fireworks out of reach of children and pets.
